The body of work.

The architecture documented across thirteen works and over 900,000 words. The discipline transmitted in three registers — manuscript, canon, dissertation — and applied across domains from project rooms to kitchens to ambulances.
The Works
Books and manuscripts.
The discipline documented in three registers — installer, practitioner, scholar — and applied across the domains where humans navigate consciously.

The body of work is the architecture taking different shapes for different readers. The Field Manual is the doorway for working professionals. The Canon installs the practitioner's discipline. The Dissertation makes the academic case. The Manuscript installs the lens through felt experience. The applied volumes carry the practice into kitchens, ambulances, parenting, marriage. Same diamond. Different rooms.

Meaning

The dissertation was written first. It was too academic. So the manuscript came next — the other end of the spectrum. Then the canon, in the middle.

Every other work takes a position on the same line — the framework applied to a specific domain, anchored on the spectrum the three primary transmissions define.

The Implementation Consultant Field Manual

Find the Spectrum, applied to project rooms. The seam, named.
Complete Read page → Six parts · 25 chapters ~44,000 words Most sellable to buyers

The most operationally focused work in the corpus. The book that names the seam — the structural gap between procurement's performed certainty and the actual uncertainty where the work happens — and shows what it looks like to operate inside that seam without collapsing it. Twenty-five rooms. The practice in motion. The volume most likely to be picked up by a sophisticated buyer of consulting work.

The Canon

The discipline. Thirty-seven chapters that install the practice.
Complete Read page → Seven parts · 37 chapters ~132,000 words The masterwork

The book that turns a way of seeing into a way of working. Spectrums. Altitude. Domains. Directions. Containers. Costumes. Coupling. Climate. Source code. Shadow. The half-second. There it is. The seam. The text the working practitioner returns to — not for inspiration, but for the specific move at the specific altitude in the specific room.

Architecture of the Invisible — The Manuscript

Fifteen chapters on the architecture you're living inside of.
Complete Read page → 15 chapters ~60,000 words The lens install

The book that installs the lens through felt experience. Three chapters of felt experience, one chapter where the architecture turns visible, ten chapters that map the walls, and two chapters that turn the lens back on the reader and the writer. The book that installs the architecture by making you feel it before it names it.

Different Door, Same Floor

The same instrument, turned inward. Seven sins, one floor.
Complete Read page → Overture · Descent · Bottom · Turn · Close 15 chapters Felt-emotion · volume two

The second felt-emotion book — the diamond pointed not at the room but at the self. It takes the seven deadly sins apart one door at a time and finds, under each, the same true affect and the same buried sentence: I am not enough. The descent bottoms out in shame — the one floor the millimeter can't reach alone, because it's the floor you're standing on — which forces the turn: what was broken in connection heals only in connection, at frequency. Different door. Same floor.

Agency

The everyday spectrums. The diamond before it had a name.
Complete Read page → Four movements ~95,000 words The autobiographical architecture

The diamond in the kitchen, the Vancouver seawall, the Vietnamese roundabout, the multi-language Sunday afternoon. The book where the practitioner finally walks his own seawall and watches the code run on himself in real time — and locates his own agency not in mastery, but in the going back.

The Dissertation

Find the Spectrum — a cognitive operating system for navigating complexity under pressure.
Complete · v18.0 Read page → 43 chapters · 5 parts Academic 17-mechanism convergence

The formal volume. The argument grounded in seventeen established research traditions — Friston, Barrett, Porges, Klein, Becker, Sweller, Bowlby, Ross, Kahneman/Tversky, Tajfel/Turner, Cooley, and more. Built across five parts: Foundations, Discipline, Stories, Practice, Governance. The framework defended in language that withstands scrutiny — including its own.

The Diamond

The portable instrument. A tool for seeing what is actually happening.
Complete Read page → Five movements · 14 chapters + reference ~42,000 words The trade entry point

The single instrument, lifted out of the discipline and handed to anyone who has never heard the word FTS. Two halves — what is true, what matters — meeting at a hinge. Show before tell; story before naming. It teaches the diamond through ordinary rooms, then hands the reader a fresh situation to run cold before revealing the author's own pass — and closes by naming the navigation as a method: every rung hands you the question that finds the next one. Ships with three interactive companions — the Navigator, the regenerative-M5 Engine, and the Alignment instrument.

Another Diamond, Another Hinge

The Practitioner's Reflexive Geometry.
Complete Read page → ~125 pages Four movements The geometry

The geometric formalization. The diamond as discovery, the hinge as the place where meaning meets reality. Designed to be read once and shape perception thereafter. The framework as a way of seeing, not a procedure to apply.

The Performance You're Giving

Six chapters on the system you forgot was running.
Complete Read page → Six chapters General reader The doorway

The book that names the performance you didn't know you were giving. Soap wrapper. Red light. Grocery belt. Bathroom witness. Source code in the everyday register — and the gap that appears the moment you can see the switch.

Five Scenes — Walks of the Diamond

The bilateral instrument, demonstrated across rank-axes — with the inversion and the negative case rendered at the same depth.
Complete Read page → Five cases + negative variant Bilateral altitude tables Practitioner-as-subject

Five project-room conversations rendered with full somatic depth and then dismantled architecturally — the Psychology of each beat plus the Diamond Walk including a Bilateral Lens table tracking practitioner and subject altitude at every moment. The fifth scene inverts the configuration: junior associate as practitioner, senior partner as subject, with the decisive move being the eight months of climate-reading before the question. Then the same scene treated as attack — what climate's absence costs when the leader seals the frame instead of holding it.

The Box Spring — a chapter of Agency, surfaced

The temporal architecture of the diamond. The illusion of depth is created by distance.
Complete Read page → Eight scenes + synthesis Temporal dimension Companion to Agency

Eight rooms running the same mechanism at radically different scales — a box spring behind a couch, a kitchen reorganized by someone else's logic, a courtyard demolished by a project, Henry VIII's divorce, the Gulf renamed, the Smithsonian curated, a 1940s zoning law, the food in your mouth. How task-level decisions harden into R6 bedrock through time alone — and how the same mechanism can be used deliberately, the way the deliberate version pours concrete while the opposition activates at the wrong altitude. Structurally parallel to Five Scenes: where Five Scenes operationalizes the bilateral dimension of the diamond, The Box Spring operationalizes the temporal.

The Parenting Book (working title)

The Room You Walked Into. The diamond, in the rooms where the architecture is being installed.
In Progress Read page → Literary essays Parenting Applied diamond

A book of parenting essays where the architecture is being built in real time. The Field Manual takes the diamond into project rooms; this book takes it into the rooms where the architecture is being installed — into nervous systems that haven't yet learned to encode the raw signal. M1/M5 separation. The spectrum question. The clean signal becoming the coded frequency. The half-second between collapse and output as the only door.

The Thing She Called Anxiety — a scene

A literary scene. The misdiagnosis of activation as anxiety — and the half-second when the filing system cracks.
Complete In the Canon → Shadow work Source code Adult literary

Sarah is thirty-four. Her doctor confirmed it at thirty-one — generalized anxiety. The label fit and she wore it. Then a Brazilian woman at a dinner party asks: how do you know it's anxiety and not excitement? The piece operationalizes the source-code chapter of the Canon in literary register — activation as qualitatively neutral, the cortex labeling on installed frequency, the container as the actual difference. Lives as a companion scene inside the Canon page; will likely move to a future Shadow Work collection.

Plus smaller artifacts: the Field Manual, the Hypothesis Layer methodology, the convergence letters (Barrett, Zmigrod, Penner), the Five Scenes index, and the canon's supplemental teaching pieces.

The Lexicon
Vocabulary of the discipline.
Definitions in canon voice. Gestures that point at meaning while leaving room to walk into it — not closed definitions that flatten the work.
Organized by architectural layer
~50 terms
Linked from every page where they appear

Terms here are not dictionary entries. They are gestures. A definition tells you what something is. A gesture points at what it does. The discipline is wielded by people who carry the gesture inside the term — not by people who memorized the definition.

01The DiamondPerception itself
Diamond.
Perception itself. Not a framework laid over experience but the shape perception takes once the lens is installed. Holds meaning and reality at the hinge. The discovery.
Hinge.
Where meaning meets reality. The plane where what matters and what's true touch. The diamond is the hinge held open.
Altitude.
Where on the M-ladder or R-ladder a person is operating. The same word means different things at different altitudes. Reading altitude is half of reading the room.
M-ladder.
The upward ladder of meaning. M1 task → M2 workflow → M3 coordination → M4 tradeoffs → M5 meaning → M6 identity. Each rung a different altitude. Each altitude needs a different intervention.
R-ladder.
The downward ladder of reality. R1 surface facts → R2 constraints → R3 mechanisms → R4 incentives/power → R5 shadow → R6 bedrock. R5 and R6 require a relational container. They cannot be reached alone.
Bedrock.
R6. The irreducibles. Physics. Time. Entropy. Bounded rationality. What cannot be changed by any intervention, any redesign, any amount of willpower. Where humility and agency return.
02The SpectrumThe native form of human variables
Spectrum.
A range, not a binary. Holds the distribution. Preserves proportion. The native form of most human variables.
Collapse.
The conversion of spectrum into verdict. Certainty that feels like truth but is the source code labeling activation. Most arguments are two collapsed spectrums.
Costume.
The shape collapse wears. Anger is fear in costume. Cynicism is grief in costume. The discipline learns the costumes.
Baseline.
A single reading means nothing. Deviation from baseline is the signal. You need the film, not the snapshot.
Unexamined position.
Every judgment of another is measurement against an unnamed baseline — your own. The judgment tells you more about your position than about theirs. Mirror, not measure.
Coupled spectrums.
Two spectrums tracking together but structurally separate. The work is decoupling. Most arguments are coupled spectrums treated as one.
Fused spectrums.
The seam between two spectrums has disappeared in perception. Experienced as one thing where there are two. Until something stress-tests the bundle and it comes apart.
03The PracticeThe rhythm of the work
Climb.
The upward move on the M-ladder. Into meaning. The work of holding, container-building, establishing what matters. Climb is hold.
Drill.
The downward move on the R-ladder. Into reality. The work of reaching, testing, finding what's actually true beneath the words. Drill is reach.
Container.
A relational structure that makes truth-surfacing safe enough to happen. Not a room. Any structure — phone call, text thread, walk, silence — that holds.
Core Loop.
Container → Thermometer → Domains → Hypothesis → Commitment → Thermometer. Not a sequence you complete. A rhythm you run, continuously, the way a pilot scans instruments.
Oscillation.
Movement between climb and drill, hold and reach, M-ladder and R-ladder. The practice is the oscillation, not either pole.
The catch.
Recognition in the half-second between activation and speech. The moment the pattern becomes visible as a pattern instead of feeling like reality. The whole practice happens here, or doesn't.
04The Failure ModesWhat the discipline is built against
Fortune teller.
Accurate read, contaminated motive. Drilling another's reality while your own goes unexamined. The diamond pointed one direction.
Hedge.
A wall built at the speed of speech. Looks like humility. Functions as protection. "I might be wrong, but..."
Cascade.
One spectrum's collapse triggering the next. The chain of dominoes the practitioner must catch at the first one. By the third, the room belongs to the cascade, not to you.
Climbing without drilling.
Meaning without reality. Ideology. The container with no test of what is actually true.
Drilling without climbing.
Reality without meaning. Cynicism. The reach with no hold for what matters.
Borrowed regulation.
When the internal system depletes, the nervous system reaches for external regulators — substances, screens, performances. Not moral failure. Structural consequence.
05The Source CodeWhat was installed before refusal was possible
Source code.
What was installed in you before you had language to refuse it. Five channels: attention, correction, comparison, conditional warmth, absence.
Shadow.
The material operating in you that you cannot see — because the apparatus that would see it is partly made of it. The floor of your drilling. You cannot read past it in another.
The Five Channels.
Attention. Correction. Comparison. Conditional warmth. Absence. The frequencies through which source code installs — and through which, run in reverse, the practitioner builds climates that heal what they once broke.
Toxic shame.
What source code IS. Not feeling — substrate. Everything else in this lexicon is the architecture managing it.
Activation.
The body's neutral somatic signal. Pre-cortical. Fear and excitement share the same signature. Activation is data; the label is interpretation the source code supplies.
06The SeamThe gap the project lives in
Seam.
The gap between performed certainty and actual uncertainty. Every project lives in it. Most pretend it isn't there.
Performed certainty.
The confidence the procurement process built. The signature on the contract. The room behaving as if it knows. Cheap to produce, expensive to maintain.
Climate.
The accumulated record of how it feels to be in this room. Built by the leader without their knowing what they're building. Read by everyone who walks in.
PRE.
Predictable Response Environment. The foundational installation. Not perfection — consistency. Every unpredicted response is a micro-threat; every consistent one a micro-deposit of safety. The first architectural decision — everything else depends on it. Promises must be nervous-system-verified, not policy-true; the climate can eat the PRE.
Disclosure.
Naming what's actually known and not known. The first half of methodological consent. Disclosure without contestability is performance.
Contestability.
The practitioner offers the means of being told off. The second half of methodological consent. Contestability without disclosure is theater.
07The BilateralThe instrument that reads both ways
Bilateral instrument.
The diamond pointed at the practitioner and the room simultaneously. The instrument that reads you reading the room.
The lens cannot look at itself.
The architectural reason the bilateral instrument exists. Awareness at M6 would require seeing the identity as a construction while standing inside it. R5 would require seeing the shadow with the lens the shadow is partly made of. Someone else has to hold the mirror.
Out of awareness.
Not "you're not thinking about it." The lens you're looking through. The apparatus is partly made of the thing — which is why it cannot be reached alone.
Half-second.
The space between activation and speech. Where recognition becomes possible. The whole practice happens in the half-second — or doesn't.
Bilateral closure.
The moment subject and practitioner meet at altitude. The conversation moves once both are at depth. Tracked even when not required.
Climate as accrued claim.
What climate IS. Not the leader's feeling about receiving feedback — the leader's consistent prior behavior, reliably enough that another person can bet on it. The leader builds it without knowing. The room knows.
08Domains & DirectionsThe signature of collapse under load
The Four Domains.
Where the protected M5 lives. Competence — fear of being incapable. Status — fear of not mattering. Identity — fear of losing self. Belonging — fear of being cast out.
The Four Directions.
Where collapse sends the system. Externalize — blame outward. Internalize — ruminate. Withdraw — disappear. Accommodate — please.
Archetype.
Domain + Direction. Sixteen combinations. The signature of how someone collapses under load — and the first thing to read in a room under pressure.
09The TemporalHow the diamond accrues in time
The Tuesday.
The nameless originating decision that hardened into architecture. Often expedient, task-level, solving today's problem. The intent evaporates; the structure persists. The most expensive decisions are the ones nobody remembers making.
Hardening.
The process by which an undrilled decision becomes ground. Decision → consequences arrange around it → arrangement becomes architecture → architecture becomes mechanism → outcomes feel inevitable → inevitability feels like bedrock. Time is the mechanism that converts decisions into destiny.
Drift.
What happens when no one is drilling. The slow accumulation of inherited architecture in directions no one chose. The cost of not drilling is never zero. It's deferred. And deferred costs compound.
Says who?
The practitioner's question for architecture that has already hardened. Where did this standard come from? Who installed it? When did it stop being a choice and start being ground? The drill against the illusion of depth — applied after the fact rather than before commitment.
The illusion of depth is created by distance.
The doctrinal phrase of the temporal dimension. The further you are from the originating Tuesday, the deeper the architecture feels. The deeper it feels, the harder it is to question. A Tuesday becomes tradition. A preference becomes heritage. A constraint becomes identity. A box spring becomes the room.

Fifty terms across nine architectural layers. Each entry is anchor-linkable — references like the seam on the Diamond page route directly to its definition here. The lexicon is not closed; it grows as the practice surfaces vocabulary that earns its place.

Operate this → Instrument

One switch at the top — the operating meaning. Flip it and watch every spectrum beneath repopulate without being touched.

The Alignment Instrument

Measure the gap, governed by prediction.
Operate this → Instrument

Drill what people actually do, let the operating meaning surface, then test the declared one against it. Scored by regeneration, sealed by prediction.

The Archetype Matrix

Four domains. Four directions. Sixteen shapes of collapse.
Operate this → Interactive reference

Competence, Status, Identity, Belonging — crossed with Externalize, Internalize, Withdraw, Accommodate. The full matrix, navigable, with the bilateral pre-read that points the lens at you first.

The Navigator & Generator

Operate the chain. Walk any question. Reality doesn’t move.
Operate this → Interactive instrument

Choose the identity and watch everything beneath it regenerate — the meanings available, the trades on the table, the work itself. The bottom half never moves, because meaning never edits reality.
